LATEST NEWS

2015 Census Population Estimates   May 20, 2016. The U S Census Bureau released the latest population estimates for counties and incorporated places for 2015. Henry County population has increased by over 6.8% since the April 1, 2010 Census to 217,789. While low compared to the boom decades of the 1990s and 2000, the pace of growth appears to coming back at a moderate and more manageable pace.  For a breakdown between the county and its cities, the news is mixed. The pace of unincorporated growth is slowing compared to the previous decades, indicating more of a move into cities and confirming the urbanization of Henry County as a whole during the prior 20 years. Locust Grove is still the smallest city in population at 5,790; buth is still growing more rapidly (7.2% growth rate) compared with most all of the other towns, with the exception of Stockbridge. The largest and fastest-growing cities is Stockbridge, with 28,202 residents, a 10% increase since 2010. Rounding out the cities is the county seat of McDonough at 23,417 (6.0% increase) and Hampton with 7,332 (5.5% growth). The unincorporated portion grew less than the county as a whole (6.4%), again indicating more urbanization of the county overall.
